Our Philosophy
First for Kids Children's Christian Center is a ministry of the First United Methodist Church of Bradenton. We are a nurturing environment where we prepare children to succeed in school and in life. Your child will have many opportunities to experience growth intellectually, socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. If your family is looking for a church home, please know that you are warmly invited to attend our Sunday school and worship services.
Our school includes infant, toddler, -2 and 3-year-old rooms as well as a Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) classroom. We carry the required state license and are also a member of the United Methodist Association of Preschools. VPK is a legislatively mandated program designed to prepare every four-year-old in Florida for kindergarten and build the foundation for their educational success. The VPK program is free to all children who are 4-years old born on or before September and resides in the State of Florida.
Based on the theory that children learn through play, classroom routines encourage active involvement, meaningful experimentation, and reinforcement through repetition. Schedules are designed with a balance of structure and free choice as well as active and quiet time. Recognizing children grow in predictable stages, we treat each child as an individual working forward one step at a time. We teach a love of learning by allowing children to experience their own stage of development and helping them to feel success without pressure.
Our mission is to make a positive difference in our community by providing children with excellent care in a safe and Godly atmosphere. We do this through:
1. Encouraging an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith and promoting Christian values through the experience it offers to all children and their families;
2. Providing a safe, secure, spiritual, and nurturing environment where young children can thrive and develop their full potential;
3. Contributing to the Christian nurturing of the family; and
4. Serving as an active and engaged ministry of the Church.
"Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it".
Proverbs 22:6
